The human footprint is often referred to the impact we are having on our planet. We don’t often think of the resources needed to live the comfortable lives we have grown accustomed to. These photographs reflect various aspects of the industry that have been built over the years to provide us with our creature comforts or an easier way of life. It seems the American way is if we need it we build it and think about the consequences later. If we continue to progress as we are, we will eventually use up all available land and resources, including water. I have composed these images to focus on the beauty of the natural landscape around the “human altered” landscapes in an attempt to make the viewer look twice at how our needs are utilizing the natural resources. Too often we are not considering if these projects will be utilized for long term, nor are we looking at the potential negative side effects this so called progress will have on future generations.
