Yikes, I have been a little MIA around here lately. It must be summer. Anyway, I decided I would take a break from the day to day of our summer craziness and try to do a little recap of what we have been up to the last month. One thing for sure is Summer’s in full swing. Here is
Kick off to Summer
Although summer has gotten off to a late start both with the weather and with the missing Sasquatch Festival, it is starting to come around. The weather still has us a little miffed, as I cannot believe we are halfway through July and it still hasn’t hit 100 degrees yet, but with working outside we will take it. As for the sound company, well we are rolling along nicely. Starting the last week of May we began our summer Thursday night series Live @ 5, this is a weekly community event in a local park (check back later for a post about that event). We are in our 16th year working this community event that showcases the local bands along with the local food truck vendors. It has been amazing to see this event grow from its conception to where it is today.
Paradiso Festival
Once we hit June, things started picking up at a nice pace. During the middle of the month, we had The Paradiso Festival at the Gorge Amphitheater. This two-day festival is said to be billed as the largest Electronic Dance Music Festival in the Pacific Northwest. While our company isn’t large enough to cover the mainstage for this event on our own, we belong to an audio network that enables us to expand our resources when needed.
We were fortunate to have only a few small shows in the weeks following Paradiso. Considering the average day at Paradiso adds up to be about 18 hour days, it is nice to have a little time to recover.
Wrapping up June
The last weekend of June we headed over to Seattle to provide audio for the Ace Comic-Con. During this multiple-day event, there were interviews with multiple actors, creators, and artists. In addition to the performers on the stage, many of the attendees would dress up as their favorite character, superhero or villain. The second day we were able to play the part of Seattle tourists and go for an evening walk on the Pier and enjoy an evening of dining on the patio at Ivers on the Pier.
Fourth of July
With that, we wrapped up June and jumped right into preparing for the 4th of July. With multiple events on that day, we had to divide our equipment to go two directions. We had one truck and an employee head to Wenatchee for their July 4th Celebration. Meanwhile, we headed back to Seattle for a celebration at the Space Needle.
Calm Before the Next Storm
Now that all of that is behind us, we have had a minute to catch our breath. Last week we had our usual Thursday Live @ 5 followed by a Gorge one-off. Now we are preparing for the next push. With tomorrow being Thursday we are back at the park for Live @ 5. This will be followed by Pendleton Bike week on Saturday. From there we will once again be on a push of Festivals. Add to that a few other
